How to update your edelpaper / 1000°ePaper WordPress plugin step by step

In this guide we explain step-by-step how you can perform the update of our WordPress plugin easily.

First of all, if you want to restore documents after the update, please make sure that you still have copies of your original PDF files from which you formally created your interactive documents from. If not, you can download a PDF via the PDF Download button in an opened page flip and save them.

Step 1: Log in as an administrator into your WordPress installation and change to the admin area. In the menu on the left hand side the "old" version (1.4.11) of the plugin labeled as “1000°ePaper” appears. Point your mouse cursor on this entry to open up the context menu and click on the menu item "Manage Subscription”.

Step 2: A new screen will open up. Click the “Reset Plugin” button. This action will delete the previous registry data in the database of the WP installation and enables a faultless new registration. If you already updated to the plugin version 1.5 or 1.5.1, you can continue with step 4.

Step 3: Open the overview of your installed plugins and go to the 1000°ePaper plugin. You might have to scroll a little bit. You will see that a new version of the plugin is already available. To start the update to the latest version, click " update now ".

Step 4: If the update was successful, the plugin will now appear as “edelpaper”. Open the context menu of the plugin and click "Registration".

In case you get an error message, delete the browser cache and reload the page. If you are still getting an error message, please see the point “Error handling” in these instruction.

Step 5: Now comes the final step of registration for the plugin via the button "Request new ApiKey". Click onto it and you will be redirected to the login page of our service.

The fastest way to register is via Google or Facebook. If you don´t like both, click on the “Sign Up” button at the top right hand corner and register yourself by using your email address.

If you chose the Sign Up method, you will be redirected to the registration form. Give us your name and a valid email address. Choose a secure password and save it carefully. With your email address and this password you can log in to the edelpaper workspace later on. Finally, please confirm your data by clicking "Open my free Account".

If your data is valid, a confirmation appears. Please notice that you also have to confirm your email address within the next 24 hours. So don´t forget to check your mailbox for the edelpaper confirmation email. If you click "Continue" - you will return to your WordPress site.

The updated edelpaper plugin is ready for use now and you can immediately convert PDF files into edelpaper flipping books. Enjoy!

Error handling

In case you see an error message, delete the browser cache and reload the page. That will solve those problems issued by loading old data from cache. If you still get an error message, for e.g. like displayed in the next screen, the update can also be performed on the server manually.

Download the current plugin version as zip file at first:

https://downloads.wordpress.org/plugin/1000grad-epaper.latest-stable.zip

Unzip the zip file after downloading. Login over a FTP client to the server where you run your WordPress installation. Depending on the server and domain configuration, the path to the WP installation of each user is different. From the root directory of the WP installation itself, the path to our Plugin is always the same: /wordpress/wp-content/plugins/1000grad-epaper. In this /wordpress/wp-content/plugins/ directory, you´ve to delete the entire folder 1000grad - epaper from the server. Then upload the folder with the latest version of the plugin at the same place on the server.

Make sure that the new folder has exactly the same name as the previously one you just deleted. Check that all subfolders have been uploaded completely as well. If so, continue with step 4.
